Green Velvet Motor Oils are blended exclusively from high quality Pennsylvania base oils and are fortified with premium additive packages for both detergent and non-detergent grades. All grades contain ZDDP anti-wear additives in the proper proportions for anti-scuff protection over a wide range of engine vintages and types. Go to Motor Oils or scroll down to read more. Green Velvet Gear Lubricants are directly derived from our line of non-compounded steam cylinder oils. Before modern gear lubricants were invented early transmissions and differentials specified high viscosity steam cylinder oils. Green Velvet Gear Lubricants fit these specifications and provide tough, tenacious films for all types of classic car steering gears, transmissions and differentials. All Green Velvet Gear Lubricants are straight mineral based lubes and do not contain EP (extreme pressure) additives that attack copper based alloys (bronze and brass). These sweet, refined lubricating base oils have been famous for over 100 years. They produce tough tenacious lubricating films, have excellent resistance to high temperature break down, gave birth to all the best motor oils and today have only one source. These outstanding base oils are fortified with premium balanced additive packages for both detergent and non-detergent grades. All grades contain ZDDP anti-wear/anti-oxidation additives in the proper proportions for anti-scuff protection and sludge reduction over a wide range of engine vintages and types. Green Velvet Motor Oils are available in one gallon bottles and 4 gallon cases. For more information about our Motor Oil Products, view our Motor Oil Line Card. Ask your local vintage auto parts store or machine shop to carry Green Velvet Pure Pennsylvania Motor Oils. OBSO100-ND Formula 1 API Premium Type oil is a obsolete oil that was first marketed around 1930 in the U.S. It replaced straight mineral motor oils and coincided with the introduction of solvent refining of lubricating base oils that improved viscosity index and appearance, but impaired natural oxidation resistance. The new base oils required fortification by blending small amounts of anti-oxidation, anti-wear and anti-corrosion additives into these "Premium" lubricants. They did not contain modern detergents and dispersants because engines of the time were not equipped with oil filters. Green Velvet OBSO100-ND Formula 1 Motor Oil faithfully reproduces SAE30 API Premium Type oil in its true formulation with all the super tough benefits of 100% Pennsylvania base oil and premium, balanced additives. This lubricant is an excellent choice for unfiltered pre 1952 engines (pre heat or warm up carefully during winter months in cold climates).
OBSO100-DD Formula 1 API MS oil is a obsolete motor oil that was first marketed around 1952 in the U.S. It was among the first motor oils to contain detergents and dispersants. It also marked the intensive use of ZDDP (Zinc DialkylDithioPhosphate) as an anti-wear and anti-oxidant for motor oils. These lubricants were introduced about the same time V-8 engines increased displacements, compression ratios and fuel consumption. These engine upgrades created more severe operating conditions requiring more advanced motor oils. Green Velvet OBSO100-DD Formula 1 Motor Oil faithfully reproduces SAE30 API MS class oil using super tough, 100% Pennsylvania base oil and a premium, balanced additives package. It is an excellent choice for stock, oil filtered engines built up through 1967 (pre heat or warm up carefully during winter months in cold climates).
PCMO100-MC Formula 1 Green Velvet PCMO100-MC Formula 1 Motor Oil is blended with super tough, 100% Pennsylvania base oil. It is a high detergent/dispersant single grade motor oil that contains a balanced minimum of 1200 ppm Zinc for engine applications that require high anti-scuff capability. Zinc protects metal surfaces, but the oil builds the lubricating films. Green Velvet does both jobs and gives total protection for total trust. It does not comply with current phosphorous limits and should not be used in engines equipped with catalytic exhaust converters or other emissions control equipment. It is an excellent choice for pre-1975 "muscle cars" and sports cars that tend to scuff and gall upper end valve train components (preheat or warm up carefully during winter months in cold climates).
AUTOMOTIVE GEAR OILGreen Velvet Gear Lubricants are blended with super tough 100% Pennsylvania base oils. These refined base oils have been famous for over 100 years, provide tough, tenacious films, have excellent resistance to high temperature break down, gave birth to the best cylinder and gear oils and today have only one source. Green Velvet Gear Lubricants are directly derived from our line of non-compunded steam cylinder oils. before modern gear oils were invented early transmissions and differentials were lubricated with high viscosity steam cylinder oils. Green Velvet Gear Lubricants meet these specifications and provide tough, tenacious films for all types of classic car stearing gears, transmission and differentials. All Green Velvet Gear Lubricants are monograde mineral based lubes and do not contain EP (extreme pressure) additives that attack copper based alloys (bronze and brass). Green Velvet Gear Lubricants are available in one gallon bottles and four gallon cases. For more information about our Automotive Gear Oils, view our Gear Oil Line Card. Ask your local vintage auto parts store or machine shop to carry Green Velvet Pure Pennsylvania Motor Oils. GL220 Formula 2 GL220 contains a blend of Pennsylvania base oils renowned for lubricity, resistance to shearing and thermal stability. It is a true monograde SAE90 lubricant fortified with a hydrophobic film/surface modifier that builds tough films and "skins" that eliminate rust. It is an excellent choice for light duty or winter service and can be used in applications that do not call for a EP gear oil.
GL460 Formula 3* GL460 contains a blend of Pennsylvania base oils renowned for lubricity, resistance to shearing and thermal stability. It is a true monograde SAE140 lubricant fortified with a hydrophobic film/surface modifier that builds tough films and "skins" that eliminate rust. It is an excellent choice as a general purpose gear oil, is equivalent to the old 600W oils and can be used in all applications that do not call for a EP gear oil.
GL1000 Formula 1* GL1000 contains a blend of Pennsylvania base oils renowned for lubricity, resistance to shearing and thermal stability. It is a true monograde SAE250 lubricant fortified with a hydrophobic film/surface modifier that builds tough films and "skins" that eliminate rust. It is a thick, full bodied "dark" oil that is blended with a extra tough thickener to achieve high viscosity and ultra high temperature stability. It is an excellent choice for spur gear transmissions and heavy duty differentials requiring the toughest non-EP gear lube. It can be used where EP gear oils are not required.
GL1500 Formula 1 GL1500 contains a blend of Pennsylvania base oils renowned for lubricity, resistance to shearing and thermal stability.
